Arkema Maintains Its 'A' Grade in the CDP Climate Ranking
The French chemical company retains its place among the top-rated companies in the CDP's climate change category, according to a press release issued this Thursday.
Continued Excellence in Environmental Ratings
Arkema is once again among the top 4% of companies in the CDP's Climate Change category, maintaining an 'A' score in this edition, the group reports. The company also retains its 'A-' score in the Water Security category. The CDP, a global non-profit organization, assesses companies on their environmental impacts. In 2025, 640 investors representing $127 trillion in assets requested CDP to collect environmental data. Nearly 20,000 companies were rated this year, out of over 22,100 that responded to the survey.
Advancing Climate Action Plan
The chemical company continues to roll out its climate plan, which is aligned with a 1.5°C trajectory validated by the SBTi, according to the press release. The set goal is to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 48.5% for scopes 1 and 2 by 2030 compared to 2019. For scope 3, the group has already surpassed its initial target in 2024 and has set a new target of reducing emissions by 67% by 2030 compared to 2019. In terms of water resource conservation, Arkema aims to reduce its water withdrawals by 27% by 2030 compared to 2019.
Leadership and Sustainability
According to the press release, Emmanuelle Bromet, the Director of Sustainable Development, attributes this performance to the commitment of the group's teams. Arkema reported a turnover of approximately 9.5 billion euros in 2024 and employs 21,150 staff across nearly 55 countries. The group is currently organized around three segments dedicated to specialty materials—adhesives, advanced materials, and coating solutions—which accounted for 92% of its turnover in 2024, along with an intermediates segment. The company aims to become exclusively positioned in specialty materials.
