bioMérieux stock soars more than 12% in one week following Spinchip
The shares of the in vitro diagnostics manufacturer are trading significantly higher in this back-to-school session, bringing its gains to more than twelve percentage points over seven days. The movement extends a dynamic that has been underway for several sessions, following the commercial launch of Spinchip and the crossing of a technical threshold that has been closely watched since summer.
A rebound that consolidates gains over short-term moving averages
With a gain of 3.47% during the session, at €80.40, bioMérieux ranks among the strongest gainers in the SBF 120, at a time when the index advances by only 0.11%. The stock moves back above its twenty and fifty-day moving averages, respectively at €73.49 and €72.98, with a spread of 9.40% above the 20-day MA and 10.17% above the 50-day MA. The 200-day MA, at €83.93, remains above the current price, at approximately 4.2% distance.
The RSI at 67 reflects sustained buying pressure without yet entering a clear overbought zone. Over the week, the increase reaches 12.29%; over one month, the gain stands at 6.49%, and the quarterly balance sheet shows +12.84%. These performances stand in sharp contrast to a decline of nearly 29% over twelve months, which reflects the correction underway since 2025.
Fundamentals in transition following a first half impacted by currency headwinds and seasonality
The recent fundamental context remains mixed. Upon publication of the first half of 2026 results on August 4, bioMérieux had confirmed its outlook for the fiscal year: organic revenue growth between 3% and 5%, and CEBIT progression between 0% and 10%. The company had then mentioned an unfavorable currency impact of 35 million euros on its combined current operating result, as well as an organic decline of 17% in BIOFIRE® respiratory panels, penalized by a less sustained winter epidemiology.
Among identified catalysts, the commercial launch of Spinchip, a point-of-care testing platform for emergency departments integrated into the GO-28 strategic plan, marked the session of September 24, a day when the stock also broke through its resistance at €75.80. The next benchmark for the underlying trend remains the 200-day MA at €83.93, which the stock has not recovered for several weeks.
