Bouygues Shares Hit New Record Since 2008, Boosted by Target Upgrade
Bouygues shares saw a sharp increase this Wednesday, climbing 2.1% to 49.60 euros, setting a new high since the 2008 crisis. This threshold crossing comes as an analyst has just raised his price target on the diversified group. The publication of the annual results for 2025, expected on February 26, is the next major event for the stock.
Analyst Upgrade Fuels Bouygues' Stock Surge
This Wednesday, BNP Paribas Exane unveiled an outperform recommendation on Bouygues, with a price target set at 55.00 euros. Given the current price of 49.60 euros, this target implies a potential increase of about 10.9%. This initiation of coverage accompanies an already strong momentum on the stock, which has gained nearly 22.4% over three months and 58.4% over a year.
The group, active in construction, telecommunications through Bouygues Telecom, and media via TF1, is preparing to unveil its annual 2025 accounts on February 26th. This event will be crucial to assess the operational trajectory of all the conglomerate's businesses and to compare market expectations with actual performance.
Technical Breakthrough in Stock Performance
Trading at 49.60 euros, the stock has surpassed its previous five-year record set the day before at 48.58 euros, which until then had been the major resistance point for the stock. This in-session crossing gives a notable technical dimension to the day's progress, as the price now moves above the old upper bound with no close graphical reference beyond.
The RSI, an indicator measuring the speed of price movements, stands at 75, which places the stock in what is typically called the overbought zone, generally above the threshold of 70. This configuration reflects the intensity of the recent rise without alone constituting a reversal signal. The 50-day moving average, positioned at 44.82 euros, remains well below the current price, confirming the solidity of the medium-term upward trend. The weekly performance of 5.9% illustrates the acceleration of the upward trajectory observed in recent days on the diversified group listed in Paris.
