Carbios Expands Licensing Offer to Textile Sector After 100 Successful Batches
Carbios has announced the expansion of its licensing offer to the textile sector after validating its enzymatic biorecycling process on complex textile wastes at its Clermont-Ferrand demonstrator. This diversification provides access to a market accounting for about two-thirds of the global PET polyester consumption.
Validation of the 'Fiber-to-Fiber' Process in Industrial Conditions
Carbios successfully completed its 100th production batch at its Clermont-Ferrand demonstrator. Tests conducted on complex post-consumer textile wastes under conditions representative of industrial operations demonstrated a conversion rate exceeding 95% within 24 hours. These results confirm the robustness of the enzymatic catalysis process and the production of virgin-quality monomers equivalent to those obtained from packaging waste. The replicability of the observed performances demonstrates the technological maturity and versatility of the solution developed by Carbios, enabling the treatment of any type of PET waste, whether from packaging or textiles, simple or complex.
Textile Market Estimated at 67 Million Tons Annually
Since 2025, Carbios has been extending its process to the treatment of PET-rich textile wastes. This material accounts for about 67 million tons of annual global consumption in textile applications, nearly double the PET packaging market. By expanding its licensing offer to this sector, Carbios diversifies its potential clients globally and accesses a market that constitutes about two-thirds of the total PET consumption.
