Carrefour Unveils 'Carrefour 2030' Plan to Boost Growth, Profitability, and Technological Transformation
On February 18, 2026, Carrefour Group introduced its strategic plan 'Carrefour 2030', a roadmap designed to enhance its commercial competitiveness, modernize its stores, and accelerate the use of artificial intelligence. The company aims to gain market share while improving profitability and cash-flow generation.
Focusing on Key Markets and Competitive Strategies
The retailer is refocusing its activities on three key markets—France, Spain, and Brazil—where it sees the greatest potential for value creation. Its strategy is based on price competitiveness, the development of fresh products, the expansion of private labels, and strengthening its loyalty program, with a target of 60 million members. Carrefour also aims to have 7,500 convenience stores in Europe and to open 70 new Atacadão stores in Brazil by 2030.
Emphasizing Technology and Data
The plan heavily emphasizes technology and data, with annual investments of around 100 million euros in AI and a partnership with Google to develop 'agentive commerce'. Carrefour also plans to equip its stores with connected devices to enhance productivity and reduce stockouts. Financially, the group targets an operating margin of 3.5% by 2030, one billion euros in annual savings, and 5 billion euros in cumulative net free cash flow between 2026 and 2028.
