Clariane Divests Assets in Belgium to Reduce Debt
Clariane has announced the sale of nine healthcare facilities in Belgium to Care Property Invest, as part of a strategy to reduce its debt.
Details of the Asset Sale
Clariane, listed on Euronext Paris, stated that the total value of the real estate assets sold in Belgium amounts to 143 million euros. Clariane holds a 52.2% stake in these assets, which corresponds to a share of 74 million euros for the company. These assets consist of the buildings of nine nursing and care homes, established between 2010 and 2025, and operated by Korian Belgium.
Strategic Implications of the Sale
According to Clariane, this divestiture is an integral part of its plan to strengthen its financial structure, which was finalized last July. The main goal of this transaction is to reduce the group's debt and financial leverage. The concerned facilities, located in various localities in Belgium, continue to be operated by Korian Belgium under twenty-year lease agreements.
Clariane's Broader Mission and Presence
Clariane positions itself as the leading European care community during times of vulnerability. The group operates in six European countries and employs about 63,000 staff, serving nearly 900,000 people annually. The company became a mission-driven company in June 2023 and has been included in the SBF 120 index as well as the CAC® SBT 1.5° index since September 2024.
