Danone Stock Rises 1.5%, Among the Strongest Gains in the CAC 40
The dairy products, water, and infant nutrition group is advancing significantly in a declining Paris market. This rebound comes after several months of decline, as the stock approaches a moving average it is seeking to reclaim.
A Session Bucking the Trend of a Declining CAC 40
The Danone stock gains 1.22% to €61.34 in mid-afternoon, while the CAC 40 falls 0.67% and the SBF 120 declines 0.70%. Only Sanofi's stock performs better in the index, placing Danone among the strongest gains in the CAC 40. The move extends a rebound of 3.44% over the week, but the quarter remains heavily negative at -15.95%, so this recovery only erases a small portion of the decline.
The stock had already posted a gain of 1.5% on October 8, near a closely watched technical level. The session is taking place in a context where French debt is under pressure: the 10-year OAT is at 4.93%, its highest level in several years.
A Price Moving Back Above its 20-Day MA and Targeting the 50-Day MA
The price of €61.34 is now above the 20-day moving average (€59.46), with a spread of 3.16%, while it remains below the 50-day moving average (€62.41), at a distance of 1.71%. This configuration draws a rebound that reclaims the short term without yet breaking through the next level. The RSI at 49.98 has returned to neutral territory, far from the oversold level reached in late September, when the stock fell to its lowest in a year.
The 200-day MA at €67.22 remains 8.75% above the current price and confirms that the underlying trend remains bearish. On fundamentals, Danone had confirmed its 2026 targets when publishing H1 results on July 29, with expected comparable growth between 3% and 5%, while its free cash flow had declined 27.3% to €852 million. The 50-day MA at €62.41 is the next level to overcome to extend this rebound.
