Marie Brizard: stable sales in the third quarter, France offsets international decline
Marie Brizard Wine & Spirits' third-quarter 2026 revenue came in at €41.6 million, up 0.3% at constant exchange rates and scope (+1.8% as reported). This near-stability masks two opposing trends: +13.3% for the France division and -7.1% for the International division.
The nine-month picture is different. Cumulative sales as of September 30, 2026 reached €125.6 million, down 2.9% organically and 1.5% as reported, as growth in France was not enough to absorb the decline in foreign markets.
France up 13.3%, International down 7.1% in the quarter
In the third quarter, the France division generated revenue of €16.8 million, compared with €14.8 million a year earlier. The International division fell to €24.8 million from €26.1 million, i.e. -7.1% organically and -4.8% as reported, with currency and scope effects contributing €0.6 million.
Over nine months, France grew 4.8% to €52.3 million, while International declined 7.9% organically (-5.5% as reported) to €73.3 million.
The quarterly picture is therefore more favorable than the cumulative one: the group moved from an organic decline of 2.9% over nine months to a 0.3% increase in the third quarter alone.
William Peel supports France, direct exports fall 12.7%
In France, the increase is explained by the comparison with the third quarter of 2025, which fully suffered from the delisting of the William Peel brand by certain mass-market retailers. The company notes, however, that this recovery is taking place at a “significantly slower pace than anticipated”.
Innovations from the Marie Brizard and Sobieski brands also contributed to growth. Out-of-home sales fell 2.8% over the quarter, mainly due to inventory adjustments after the summer, but rose 6.8% over nine months.
Internationally, direct exports (MBWS International) fell 12.7%, with declines in the United Kingdom, Belux, Germany, Poland, Italy, Taiwan and Korea. In the United States, sales dropped 44.5% over the quarter as the importer reduced its Sobieski inventories; over nine months, the decline is 0.8%.
Lithuania (-14.5%) and Bulgaria (-23.5%) were penalized notably by exports, while the Lithuanian domestic market grew 8.7%. Denmark fell 13.5% organically (+77.9% as reported, including the scope effect).
Conversely, Spain grew 23.3%, driven by industrial services (+23.1%). Brazil gained 21.0% over the quarter but remains 4.4% behind over nine months.
The group anticipates a decline in Eastern Europe by year-end
For the end of the financial year, Marie Brizard Wine & Spirits describes an environment that is “still uncertain and mixed”. The group says it is exposed to the conflicts in the Middle East and Ukraine, which in its view are leading to higher input and transport costs and to disruption of the supply chain.
In France, it anticipates the continuation of a positive trend, supported by the “gradual but slow” recovery of William Peel in mass retail, innovations from the Marie Brizard and Sobieski brands, new agency brands and new industrial services contracts.
Internationally, a decline is expected in Eastern Europe, notably due to difficulties faced by the group's customers in Ukraine and by other customers in Central Europe. This outlook concerns the largest division: as of September 30, 2026, International represents €73.3 million of the €125.6 million in cumulative sales, compared with €52.3 million for France.
