Eagle Football Group Renews Its Board of Directors
The group owning Olympique Lyonnais has made several co-optations of directors during the board meeting on January 6, according to a statement released on January 7. These appointments follow the resignations of five members since the last general meeting.
Recent Resignations and Acknowledgements
The board of directors of Eagle Football Group has recorded five resignations since the last general shareholders' meeting. Two independent female directors have recently left their positions: Bethel Gotllieb, who had been in office since September 2023, resigned effective December 31, 2025, while Camille Lagache, who had been on the board since December 2022, ended her duties on January 7, 2026. Three other departures occurred during the year 2025: Jamie Dinan and John Textor in June, followed by Mark Affolter in October. The company expressed its gratitude to the outgoing directors for their service within the group, as stated in the announcement.
New Appointments to the Board
The board of directors, convened on January 6, 2026, decided to co-opt three new members. Stephen Welch, an Australian national, joins the board as an independent director. With international financial expertise, he manages Eagle Football Holdings Bidco, the controlling shareholder of the company. His co-optation will cover the duration of his mandate within this holding. Victoria Wescott, holding British and French nationalities and a former lawyer, has also been co-opted as an independent director. Additionally, the board has reinstated Gilbert Saada, a French national, who had previously served several years on the board and as a censor. He returns as an independent director, the group specifies.
Board Composition and Future Plans
The three other resigning directors have not been replaced, the company indicates. The board of directors now consists of eight members, including four independent directors and four women. These are Debbie Andrews, Nathalie Dechy, Gilbert Saada, and Victoria Wescott as the independents. The board has ensured that this composition will allow it to have all the necessary skills for its proper functioning and the fulfillment of its missions, according to the statement. The three co-optations will be submitted for ratification by the shareholders at the general meeting scheduled for January 28, 2026. A detailed presentation of the new directors will be included in the board's report at this meeting. The board committees will be restructured in the coming weeks, Eagle Football Group specifies.
