Ekinops and O2 Telefónica Launch a Novel 5G Solution for Businesses
Ekinops and O2 Telefónica announce the launch of a co-developed solution for extending fixed-line service via a 5G mobile link, aimed at providing high-speed connectivity to German business clients, especially in areas with low coverage.
Innovative Connectivity Expansion
Ekinops, a provider of secure connectivity solutions, and O2 Telefónica, a telecommunications service provider in Germany, launch a solution to extend fixed lines via a 5G mobile link. This solution targets businesses needing connectivity within building cores, especially in complex installations or areas with low coverage. It meets the needs of businesses looking to connect new sites to the internet without undertaking major expansion projects and wishing to utilize fixed-type network connectivity in case of failure.
Technical Configuration and Deployment
The solution is based on a centrally managed 5G external unit, called the MRU 5G (Managed Remote Unit), paired with Ekinops enterprise routers running OneOS6 software. This setup allows the antenna to be deployed up to 100 meters from the data room without decibel loss. Deployment is facilitated by flexible installation options through a dedicated app to locate the optimal antenna position. The solution incorporates VLAN flow isolation and offers complete remote supervision and management, directly integrated into O2 Business's management and provisioning systems.
Rapid Deployment and Enhanced Performance
The solution offers ultra-fast deployment, reducing the need for complex construction. Service activation benefits from a template-based configuration and a powerful command-line interface (CLI), enabling highly industrialized processes. It provides speeds nearly 10 times higher than traditional external antennas and integrates a highly secure Enterprise-class network suitable for sites with many simultaneous users.
