Eutelsat selects Arianespace for two OneWeb launches in 2027 and 2028
The satellite operator has selected Arianespace for two dedicated launches of its OneWeb constellation into low Earth orbit, scheduled for 2027 and 2028. The agreement adds European launch capacity to the options already subscribed by the group with other operators.
Two Ariane 64 launches scheduled from French Guiana
Eutelsat (ISIN: FR0010221234, Euronext Paris and London Stock Exchange under the ticker ETL) has selected Arianespace to conduct two dedicated launches of its OneWeb satellite constellation into low Earth orbit (LEO).
Scheduled for 2027 and 2028, these two missions will launch OneWeb satellites aboard Ariane 64 launch vehicles, the most powerful variant of the Ariane 6 rocket, from Europe's Spaceport located in French Guiana. The announcement was published on September 10, 2026.
OneWeb constellation renewal and diversification of launch capabilities
The two launches are part of Eutelsat's program for the progressive renewal of its OneWeb constellation and the continuity of its LEO services, with 440 satellites already ordered and under construction.
These missions add to the launch capacity already subscribed from other operators, bringing, according to the group, greater diversity and flexibility to space access options. They will also support the preparatory phase of the next phase of Eutelsat's LEO roadmap, including the IRIS2 program.
An extended partnership between Eutelsat and Arianespace
Arianespace has contributed to the expansion of Eutelsat's geostationary (GEO) fleet and the initial deployment of the OneWeb constellation. The two new missions extend this partnership.
Jean-François Fallacher, Chief Executive Officer of Eutelsat, stated that these launches will play "an important role in the renewal" of the OneWeb platform and the sustainability of the LEO network. David Cavaillolès, Chief Executive Officer of Arianespace, stated that the agreement "demonstrates the Ariane 6 launch vehicle's ability to meet the expectations of major LEO constellations".
