Exosens Joins European SPIRIT Project on Infrared Defense Detection
Exosens announces its participation in the SPIRIT project, a major European initiative aimed at developing next-generation infrared detection technologies and reducing Europe's strategic dependency in defense. The French specialist in amplification and detection technologies will contribute to building a complete European supply chain, from semiconductor design to camera systems.
A Project Coordinated Around High-Resolution Infrared Detectors
SPIRIT brings together major industrial players, research organizations, and system integrators with a common goal: to accelerate the development of small-pitch, large-format infrared detectors, strategic components for next-generation defense systems. These technologies, currently dominated by non-European suppliers, require increased resolution, enhanced sensitivity, and more sophisticated embedded functionalities.
Exosens will bring its expertise in advanced detection and imaging technologies to support the transition from research to industrial maturity. The project is part of a strategy to reduce external technological dependency and accelerate deployment on defense platforms.

Over four years, SPIRIT aims to transform innovations into operationally ready solutions. The program covers the development of advanced semiconductor components, the integration of multiple infrared materials, and the delivery of detector systems and camera prototypes tested in real environments.
Establishing a fully European supply chain, from design to finished system, is a central element of the project. This technological autonomy is intended to meet defense needs by 2030.
