Exosens Secures €140M from EIB for Night Vision Technologies
French specialist in night vision and imaging technologies for defense announced on Thursday that it has secured a €140 million credit facility from the European Investment Bank (EIB). This financing, backed by the European Commission's InvestEU program, is intended to support the group's research, development, and innovation activities, as well as its industrial investments in the European defense, surveillance, and civilian sectors.
Financing Aligned with European Strategic Priorities
Exosens states that this operation is in line with the EIB's strategic priorities for technological innovation and strengthening Europe's industrial sovereignty and defense capabilities. The group emphasizes that the financing recognizes 'its technological leadership and strategic role within the European industrial ecosystem.' The credit facility, with a maturity of up to seven years, aims to finance investments in photonic technologies for night vision and imaging applications, particularly in the defense and surveillance sectors. It also aims to enhance the group's financial flexibility to support its medium-term growth strategy.
Investments in France and Europe
The investments supported by this financing will involve several of the group's production and research sites, including its state-of-the-art facility in Brive-la-Gaillarde, France. Exosens currently has 12 sites across Europe and North America, employing more than 2,000 staff members. The group outlines its position as a trusted supplier of critical, high-value-added photonic solutions, free from ITAR (International Traffic in Arms Regulations) constraints, serving the European defense ecosystem.
