Getlink Records Mixed Traffic in December and Throughout 2025
The operator of the Channel Tunnel reports a decline in freight activity in December 2025, while passenger vehicle transport shows growth over the full year, according to the group's statement.
Freight Traffic Sees a Decline in December
In December 2025, LeShuttle Freight recorded the passage of 93,979 trucks, marking a decrease of 2% compared to the same month of the previous year, according to data published by Getlink. Over the entire year of 2025, the number of heavy goods vehicles transported by the Shuttles totaled 1,163,124 units, representing a decline of 3% compared to 2024. This negative trend reflects a weakening in freight activity on the trans-Channel route operated by the group, which holds the concession for the infrastructure linking Folkestone in the United Kingdom with Calais in France.
Passenger Vehicle Transport Experiences a Monthly Setback
LeShuttle transported 188,687 passenger vehicles in December 2025, a decrease of 3% compared to December 2024. This monthly performance was affected by disruptions that occurred on the 30th and 31st of December, the group indicates. Passenger vehicles include cars, motorcycles, vehicles with trailers, caravans, motorhomes, and coaches. Despite this decline at the year's end, passenger traffic remains on an upward trend over the twelve-month period.
Annual Increase in Passenger Vehicles
Throughout the full year of 2025, Getlink transported 2,234,093 passenger vehicles via its Shuttles, marking an increase of 2% compared to 2024, according to figures communicated by the group. This annual growth contrasts with the decrease observed in December and indicates a generally sustained demand on the trans-Channel axis for the private segment. The group notes that traffic statistics for January 2026 will be published on Friday, February 6, 2026, before the stock market opens.
