Hermès Intl Shares Bounce Nearly 2%, Following Luxury Sector on the CAC 40
The saddler from Faubourg Saint-Honoré is regaining momentum in a well-oriented Parisian luxury segment. The company benefits from a freshly updated analyst opinion and contributes to the CAC 40's rebound, while still being heavily penalized over the year.
Berenberg Reiterates Buy on Hermès Despite Lowering Target to €1,850
This Thursday, Berenberg reaffirmed its buy rating on Hermès International, while lowering its price target from €2,600 to €1,850. This new target still offers a potential upside of about 11% from the current price of €1,666, positioning the research firm among the encouraging voices on the stock. The share is up 1.86% at midday, among the strongest gains on the CAC 40, alongside LVMH (+2.78%), Christian Dior (+2.29%), and Kering (+1.56%).
Based on expected earnings, the stock is trading at about 37 times the profits for the current fiscal year according to the consensus of surveyed analysts, a multiple that reflects the premium status of the brand. However, the stock still shows a loss of nearly 29% over the year, a consequence of a deteriorated global luxury environment (Swiss watch exports are down 16.6% year-over-year according to FHS data).
The Stock Moves Above Its Short-Term Averages and Aims for the €1,702 Resistance
Today's rebound allows Hermès to move above its 20-day moving average (€1,612.33) and its MM50 (€1,643.23), with a respective positive gap of 3.33% and 1.39%. However, the stock remains well below its MM200 at €1,967.46 (-15.32%), indicating that the medium-term trend remains degraded after the winter's downturn. The RSI at 53 indicates a momentum that has returned to neutral, while the MACD moves into positive territory (histogram at +5.24), confirming the short-term improvement.
The next threshold to watch is the resistance identified at €1,702, whose crossing would technically validate the exit from the consolidation zone. In the longer term, the company had confirmed in February, during the publication of the 2025 results, an ambitious revenue growth target at constant rates for the medium term.
