Michelin expands its wine selection in Bordeaux with 83 distinguished estates
The Clermont-based group unveiled its first selection of grapes dedicated to Bordeaux at the Cité du Vin in Bordeaux. This initiative marks the second chapter of a wine distinction that Michelin has launched to recommend estates on a global scale.
A inaugural selection covering 83 Bordeaux estates
The inaugural selection distinguishes 9 châteaux with 3 grapes, 16 with 2 grapes and 37 with 1 grape, to which are added 21 recommended châteaux, totaling 83 estates. It covers the main appellations of the region, between the left bank (Médoc, Pessac-Léognan), right bank (Saint-Émilion, Pomerol) and Sauternais (Sauternes, Barsac).
According to Gwendal Poullennec, international director of the Michelin Guide, this selection is intended to be enriched each year, in line with the work carried out in the field by inspection teams.

The grape distinction is divided into three levels (1, 2 and 3 grapes), supplemented by a category of selected estates. The Michelin Guide relies on inspectors dedicated to wine, all professionals and employees of the group, who make their recommendations collectively and independently.
Five criteria are applied uniformly worldwide: the quality of agronomy, technical mastery, identity, balance and consistency.
