Nexans Launches its Cable Laying Vessel Electra in Oslo, Dedicated to Offshore and HVDC
On Thursday, June 18, Nexans officially inaugurated its cable laying vessel CLV Nexans Electra in Oslo, now part of the operational fleet of the group. This vessel, one of the most advanced in the world, embodies the group's strategy to address large-scale offshore infrastructure and interconnection projects.
Enhanced Installation Capabilities and Multi-Project Versatility
The CLV Nexans Electra, measuring 149.9 meters in length and 31 meters in width, represents a significant leap in installation capacity. The vessel features three carousel systems with a combined capacity of 13,500 tonnes and can lay up to four cables simultaneously. It includes a complete suite of underwater installation tools, incorporating burial and protection systems. This configuration enables the vessel to handle both large-scale offshore wind projects and long-distance HVDC interconnectors, which are crucial for the deployment of the global energy transition.
