Nokia Partners with TIM Brasil to Cover 42% of the Country with 5G Using NVIDIA's AI
Nokia has announced the expansion of its partnership with TIM Brasil to upgrade the Brazilian operator's 5G network. This expansion will cover approximately 42% of the country's population, including the São Paulo region and 14 additional states across four distinct regions.
Comprehensive Network Modernization
The agreement between Nokia and TIM Brasil focuses on upgrading the operator's 5G network across key regions in Brazil. Nokia will deploy its latest generation of AirScale solutions, including Habrok Massive MIMO radios, Pandion Remote Radio Heads, and AirScale Radio small cells. These deployments will particularly target regions such as Belo Horizonte, Brasília, Goiânia, Manaus, Belém, and São Luís. TIM Brasil will also implement Nokia's MantaRay SON (Self-Organized Network) solution, designed to automate routine operations, enhance network quality, and reduce operational costs.
Enhanced Collaboration on AI-Driven Use Cases
The agreement includes an enhanced collaboration between Nokia and TIM Brasil to explore the development of transformative use cases based on AI, including intelligent slicing, video image analysis and recognition, voice recognition, and threat detection. These solutions will target vertical sectors such as mining, agribusiness, manufacturing, logistics, and transportation. This initiative leverages Nokia's AI-RAN solution, developed in partnership with NVIDIA.
Preparing for Future Advances
The modernization will enable TIM Brasil to prepare its network for future advancements, including 5G Advanced, 6G, and advanced AI-driven services. The deployed solutions aim to enhance network performance and efficiency, reduce environmental impact by lowering energy consumption, and ensure comprehensive coverage with improved indoor connectivity and enhanced scalability.
