Publicis Groupe stock declines 2%, turning red after previous day's rebound
After posting the best performance in the CAC 40 the previous day, Publicis Groupe loses momentum this Friday and slides into negative territory, bucking a broadly stable Paris market. Selling pressure erases part of Thursday's rebound, without undermining the strength of the stock's technical setup.
A 2% decline bringing the stock back to its 104.10 € resistance level
Publicis Groupe loses 2.02% during the session, to 101.65 €, while the CAC 40 falls by only 0.34%. The stock thus ranks among the largest decliners in the CAC 40, within striking distance of a resistance level at 104.10 €, which it failed to break through this week despite a 3.5% rebound the previous day. Medium-term momentum nonetheless remains favorable: the stock is trading above its three moving averages, with a margin of 0.71% above the 20-day MA at 100.93 € and more than 8.5% above the 50-day MA at 93.65 €.
The RSI at 53 remains in neutral territory, with no marked signal of exhaustion in either direction. Over the week, performance is only slightly positive (+0.35%), but over one month the gain reaches 8.3% and over three months it exceeds 19.5% — reflecting solid underlying upward momentum since summer.
CIC Market Solutions raises its price target to 120 € and short positions retreat on the stock
This Friday, CIC Market Solutions raised its price target from 110 € to 120 €, while maintaining a buy rating on the stock. At the current level of 101.65 €, this new target represents upside potential of approximately 18%. On the short-selling side, pressure is easing noticeably: according to available disclosures, four funds account for 3.27% of capital sold short, down 0.64 percentage points over thirty days (compared to 3.91% a month ago).
This reduction in bearish bets, while not massive, suggests that the most skeptical managers have gradually reduced their negative exposure to the stock as it has climbed over the quarter. However, caution is warranted in interpreting this signal in isolation: a short ratio of 3.27% remains significant and warrants ongoing monitoring.
