Rémy Cointreau Shares Drop Nearly 2% and Stall Again at €45.42
The cognac group's stock falls mid-session on the Paris Stock Exchange, amid a generally lower Parisian market trend. The decline follows the stock's failure to overcome its major resistance last Friday, which had already triggered a pullback. However, the underlying trend remains largely bullish since spring.
The Stock Stumbles Again Below €45.42, Above Its Moving Averages
Rémy Cointreau's stock loses 1.84% to €43.70 mid-session, after closing at €44.52 in the previous session. The stock remains below its €45.42 resistance, which had already been unsuccessfully tested last Friday, prolonging the downward movement initiated after this technical failure. Yet, the underlying configuration remains bullish: the price is above its MM20 (€41.95, gap +4.17%), MM50 (€41.00), and MM200 (€41.42), with all three averages now tightened around €41. The RSI at 61 indicates ongoing consolidation after a 24.22% rally over the quarter, without tipping into an overbought zone.
The session remains mixed for the SBF 120, which is down 0.74% at midday. In terms of flows, the declared net short positions on the stock reach 5.38% of the capital, spread among five funds, according to reviewed declarations. The total remains high but has slightly eroded over thirty days (-0.20 point, from 5.58%). This level, above 3%, reflects the persistence of a significant institutional bearish bet, without recent acceleration: a point to monitor over time rather than a signal of increased short-term distrust.
The RC Forward Plan Continues to Guide Since the Annual Accounts Were Published
Today's decline occurs in a still deteriorating sectoral context for French spirit exporters, with cognac exports down 10.9% in value for the 2024 balance according to FEVS. Nevertheless, the stock's market dynamics remain anchored in the response to the RC Forward strategic plan unveiled during the annual accounts publication for 2025-26 on June 4. These accounts showed only a 0.2% organic growth, an operating margin down by 2.6 points to 17.7%, and a dividend halved, but the market had favored the ambition of transformation, with a nearly 11% jump in the stock that day.
Since this publication, the stock has gained about 14% and has risen by 6.64% over a month. The stock now hangs on the ability of the price to sustainably overcome the €45.42 resistance, which constitutes the short-term technical barrier.
