Soitec Appoints Laurent Rémont as CEO
Semiconductor materials manufacturer Soitec has appointed Laurent Rémont as CEO effective April 1, 2026, according to a statement released on Wednesday. He will succeed Pierre Barnabé, who announced his resignation in early October 2025.
Professional Background of Laurent Rémont
Laurent Rémont, 54, is currently serving as Senior Vice President at Infineon Technologies, where he leads the MEMS and Magnetic Sensors division, the group reports. He has also managed the Radio Frequency and Sensors activity at this German semiconductor manufacturer, overseeing a portfolio that includes sensors, radars, microphones, and RF components. Prior to joining Infineon in 2019, Laurent Rémont held the position of Chief Technical Officer at Kontron AG, a specialist in industrial IoT solutions. He previously spent over fifteen years at STMicroelectronics, where he held various general management and research and development responsibilities. A graduate engineer from Grenoble INP - ENSERG, he joins Soitec after developing international experience in the mobile communications, automotive, and artificial intelligence sectors.
Transition and Appointment Details
The future CEO will join Soitec on March 16, 2026, as an advisor to CEO Pierre Barnabé, before officially succeeding him on April 1, 2026, according to the statement. Pierre Barnabé's departure, announced on October 1, 2025, will become effective on March 31, 2026. Laurent Rémont's appointment follows a selection process conducted by the board of directors and on the recommendation of the compensation, nominations, and governance committee. His appointment as a board member remains subject to approval at the general meeting scheduled for July 2026. Subject to this approval, his term will commence at that date for a duration of three years.

According to the group, this appointment is part of the board of directors' desire to consolidate the company's development and enhance its portfolio of products and technologies, particularly in the area of artificial intelligence. Frédéric Lissalde, chairman of the board, stated that Laurent Rémont possesses the necessary qualities to lead the next phase of Soitec's development, highlighting his knowledge of semiconductor value chains and his ability to deploy transformative roadmaps. The group, based in Bernin near Grenoble, reported a revenue of 0.9 billion euros for the fiscal year 2024-2025 and employs over 2,200 staff across sites in Europe, the United States, and Asia.
