Stellantis shares rebound but remain below technical resistance at €4.20
Stellantis is gaining ground on Monday morning, displaying modest recovery in a rising CAC 40, despite a downward revision of Evercore ISI's price target published today. The stock nonetheless remains under severe pressure over longer horizons, with a decline of nearly 50% over one year that makes it one of the most depressed values in the Paris index.
Evercore ISI lowers its target to €5.50 while maintaining its market perform rating
Stellantis gains 1.32% to €4.25 during trading, in a CAC 40 that is advancing 0.83%. The rebound occurs nonetheless on the same day that Evercore ISI lowered its price target on the manufacturer, bringing it down from €7.00 to €5.50, while maintaining its "market perform" rating. Despite this adjustment, the revised price target still implies upside potential of approximately 29% compared to the current price.
The fundamental backdrop remains heavy: one-year performance stands at -49.69%, and over three months the decline exceeds 23%. According to the consensus of analysts surveyed, the stock is trading at around 7.4 times expected earnings for the current fiscal year, and only 4 times those of the following fiscal year, reflecting a valuation compressed by persistent doubts about the group's profitability.
Technical configuration under pressure, the stock hits resistance below its three moving averages
Despite today's rebound, the technical chart configuration of Stellantis remains degraded. The price at €4.25 is trading below the 20-day MA at €4.56 (spread of 6.71%), below the 50-day MA at €4.76 (spread of 10.63%) and well below the 200-day MA at €6.48 (spread of 34.35%). These three moving averages form a technical wall above the stock, which has failed to break above any of them for several weeks.
The RSI at 37 reflects a configuration close to oversold without being fully anchored there, leaving structural selling pressure present. The stock is currently holding above its support level at €4.20, which was closely tested during the previous session on Friday, September 18. This €4.20 threshold is now the level to hold to avoid a fresh bout of weakness, in a market context where the VIX at 14.97 signals relative overall serenity.
