On March 2, 2026, STMicroelectronics announced that its motion detection technologies and secure wireless connectivity are now integrated into Qualcomm Technologies' custom AI platform, Snapdragon Wear Elite.
Enhanced Capabilities for Wearable Devices
STMicroelectronics supports motion detection technologies and secure wireless technologies of the new Snapdragon Wear Elite platform launched by Qualcomm Technologies. ST's components enable enhanced always-on detection, optimized energy efficiency, and new user experiences for the next generation of wearable computing devices, including activity recognition as well as health and lifestyle tracking.
Key Components in the Collaboration
ST incorporates two major components into this collaboration: the intelligent inertial module LSM6DSV32X, equipped with machine learning capabilities, performs pattern recognition tasks such as activity classification and gesture detection with microampere level current consumption; the NFC controller ST54L, with an embedded secure element, facilitates the deployment of contactless services including secure payments, transport ticketing, access control, and digital car keys.
Support and Ecosystem Synergy
The collaboration provides OEMs with comprehensive documentation, development tools, global support, and alignment between the ecosystems of ST and Qualcomm Technologies. This integration would reduce technical risk and accelerate the timeline from prototype to mass production, allowing manufacturers to benefit from ready-to-use solutions that simplify integration and speed up time-to-market.
