Sud Sivaji Takes the Helm as CEO of Aperam
Luxembourg-based steel group Aperam has announced the commencement of Sud Sivaji's role as CEO, effective January 1, 2026. This appointment completes the leadership transition that began in September 2025, following Tim di Maulo's retirement at the end of 2025.
Extensive Industry Experience
Sud Sivaji, who previously served as Aperam's Chief Financial Officer, brings 25 years of experience in engineering, supply chain, and finance, according to the press release. His professional background spans the steel, stainless steel, and aerospace sectors. The company emphasizes that his industrial experience is a valuable asset for leading the next development phase of the group. Aperam employs about 13,000 people worldwide and has a stainless and electrical steel production capacity of 2.5 million tons, distributed between Brazil and Europe.
Vision for Value Creation in the Circular Economy
According to the new CEO, Aperam's ambition is to establish itself as a benchmark value creator in the circular economy of materials. The group positions itself beyond mere steel production by creating value across the entire supply chains, from stainless steel to electrical steels and aerospace alloys, as well as specialized activities, recycling, charcoal production, and forestry. Sud Sivaji emphasizes that success relies on material knowledge, innovation capabilities, and the determination of the group's teams. He believes that vertical integration of the value chain is a differentiating factor.
Strengthened Executive Team
The expanded executive team surrounding Sud Sivaji has been in place since October 1, 2025, the company specifies. With this governance structure now fully operational, Aperam indicates it is positioned to execute its long-term strategy and stimulate innovation in the materials sector. The group, listed on the Luxembourg Stock Exchange and on Euronext Amsterdam, Paris, and Brussels, organizes its activities around four main segments: stainless and electrical steels, services and solutions, alloys and specialties, and recycling and renewable energies. The company notably owns BioEnergia, specialized in the production of charcoal from FSC-certified forests, and Aperam Recycling | ELG, a player in the recycling of stainless steel and high-performance alloys.
