TomTom and Miovision Partner to Optimize Urban Traffic Management
Dutch digital mapping specialist TomTom announces a partnership with Miovision, a Canadian company specializing in smart mobility solutions, to enhance the management of traffic infrastructure worldwide. This collaboration combines TomTom's traffic data with Miovision's software and hardware technologies for municipalities.
Integration of TomTom's Data into Miovision One
According to the press release, Miovision will integrate TomTom's geolocation data into its Miovision One platform, accessible to all its users. This integration will expand coverage to more than 300,000 intersections worldwide, leveraging data from hundreds of millions of mobile devices. Miovision will also handle the distribution of TomTom Traffic Analytics products to public sector clients and traffic management agencies. The available data includes congestion heat maps, detailed analyses of corridors and highways, and other traffic indicators.
Incorporating GenAI Agent into Miovision One
The partnership includes the integration of a GenAI agent developed by Miovision into the Miovision One platform. According to the company, this tool will allow traffic management teams to query TomTom data and data from their own connected infrastructures through a single conversational interface. The announced goal is to significantly accelerate the analysis of traffic trends. The platform will also offer the ability to view live or recorded video streams, perform computer vision analyses, and implement remote modifications.
Impact on Traffic Signal and Intersection Management
Thomas Bauer, Vice President of V2X Sales at Miovision, states that integrating TomTom's traffic data will enable transportation agencies to identify underperforming traffic lights and intersections that require improved signage. Ralf-Peter Schäfer, Vice President of Traffic and Travel Information at TomTom, emphasizes that combining TomTom's traffic analyses with Miovision's solutions will provide road authorities with a comprehensive view of network performance and intersection dynamics. Miovision currently serves over 5,000 clients in 68 countries and covers more than 60,000 intersections in 8 countries with its V2X solutions.
