TomTom Integrates Microsoft Azure Technologies into Its Automotive Navigation Solutions
The Dutch location technology specialist strengthens its partnership with Microsoft to develop its mapping and navigation products. The company is now integrating several Azure services into its solutions for automotive manufacturers.
Enhanced Integration with Azure Services
According to the press release issued on Wednesday, TomTom is incorporating various Microsoft technologies into its automotive solutions, including the TomTom Automotive Navigation application and TomTom AI Agent. The integration includes Azure OpenAI via Microsoft Foundry Models, Azure Cosmos DB, and Azure Kubernetes Service. This collaboration aims to enable automotive manufacturers to deploy personalized navigation experiences within weeks rather than months. The platform offers a modular architecture that provides manufacturers with greater control over their brand identity while reducing time to market.
Advanced Voice Control Features
The group reports that TomTom AI Agent utilizes Azure OpenAI in Foundry Models to offer natural voice control to drivers. The system allows for intuitive search and navigation through voice recognition. The company states that this proactive solution listens, responds, and guides drivers by anticipating their needs. Manufacturers benefit from a pre-integrated and scalable solution, with updates delivered seamlessly via the cloud, eliminating the need for continuous development of new use cases.
Showcasing at CES 2026
TomTom will showcase this collaboration with Microsoft at the CES 2026, currently taking place in Las Vegas. Visitors will be able to explore features of smart navigation, routing for electric vehicles, proactive hazard alerts, and lane-level guidance. The event is being held in the hospitality suites of the Wynn Encore. The Dutch group, listed on Euronext Amsterdam under the symbol TOM2, provides location data and technologies to drivers, automotive manufacturers, businesses, and developers.
