Ubisoft Launches Two Augmented Reality Apps for the 250th Anniversary of the American Revolution
Ubisoft has released two free augmented reality apps based on the worlds of Assassin's Creed III and Assassin's Creed Rogue, enabling visitors to New York and Boston to explore key moments of the American Revolution at historical sites.
Two Augmented Reality Experiences in Historic Cities
The two mobile applications, titled 'Echoes of Revolution: NYC' and 'Echoes of Revolution: Boston', offer free immersive experiences lasting 90 minutes. Users can access augmented reality content depicting the appearance of 18th century New York and Boston by visiting 10 distinct locations. The NYC app explores pivotal moments of the Revolutionary War, including the defense of the Hudson, the erection of a Liberty Pole at City Hall Park, and the toppling of King George's statue at Bowling Green. The Boston app, developed in partnership with Revolutionary Spaces, recreates the Boston Tea Party, the intelligence networks of the Green Dragon Tavern, and navigating around Boston Common Lake.
Integration at the Museum of the City of New York
Ubisoft is also contributing to the 'The Occupied City' exhibition currently hosted by the Museum of the City of New York, marking the 250th anniversary of the American Revolution. The exhibition features lesser-known chapters of New York's role in the war. For this event, the world of Assassin's Creed III has been used to create immersive videos showing the streets of revolutionary New York, allowing visitors to immerse themselves in the city as it existed at the time, offering an urban experience lived in an occupied and contested city.
