UCB presents 18 papers on epilepsy at the European Congress in Athens
Belgian pharmaceutical company UCB detailed, in a press release published on September 1, 2026, its participation in the 16th European Congress of Epilepsy (EEC), where it presents its research work on developmental and epileptic encephalopathies. The announcement reflects its historical positioning in central nervous system diseases.
UCB (Euronext Brussels: UCB) presents a total of 18 abstracts at the 16th European Congress of Epilepsy, held in Athens from September 5-9, 2026. The research covers several developmental and epileptic encephalopathies (DEE), Rett syndrome, management of acute seizures as well as a public policy analysis on the transition between pediatric and adult care in Europe and the United States.
Data concerning fenfluramine (marketed under the name Fintepla) address outcomes beyond seizure reduction alone, including executive functioning in daily life in adults living with Lennox-Gastaut syndrome and impact on daily life in Dravet syndrome. Post hoc analyses also address seizure control in CDKL5 deficiency disorder.

Donatello Crocetta, Chief Medical Officer of UCB, indicated that the data presented at the EEC deepen the understanding of outcomes that matter to people affected by these conditions. He linked these efforts to the recent acquisition of Neurona Therapeutics, presented as reflecting the group's ambition to contribute to the future of epilepsy management, through continuous innovation and exploration of next-generation therapeutic approaches.
UCB further indicates that fenfluramine is approved in the European Union for the treatment of seizures associated with Dravet and Lennox-Gastaut syndromes, as an adjunct to other antiepileptic drugs, in patients aged 2 years and older. The group specifies that fenfluramine is not approved for CDKL5 deficiency disorder or for Rett syndrome by any regulatory authority worldwide. The company will also present an exhibition of works created by people living with epilepsy on September 6 and 7.
