Valeo Shares Drop 4% and Reapproach Their 50-Day Moving Average
The automotive equipment manufacturer experiences one of the sharpest declines in the broader index in early afternoon trading. The stock erases part of its quarterly rally and reapproaches its 50-day moving average in a Paris market weighed down by risk aversion.
A Significant Decline Brings the Stock Back to Its 50-Day Moving Average
Valeo shares drop 4.02% to €12.64 during the session, among the steepest declines in the SBF 120, while the broader index falls by 0.8%. The stock returns to its 50-day moving average (€12.66), after having fallen below its 20-day moving average (€14.29) by 11.51%. However, it still maintains a cushion of nearly 8% above its 200-day moving average (€11.72), reflecting the rally accumulated since spring.
Over three months, the performance remains positive at 19.07%, but the weekly decline reaches 5.71%. The 50 RSI indicates a market without a clear dominance, after several sessions of consolidation that have erased part of the gains accumulated since April. This session follows the decline from the previous day, already documented in a brief published on Monday, which noted the drop below the 20-day moving average.
Recent Bond Issue and Still High Short Positions in the Capital
On the corporate side, Valeo announced on May 27 a bond issue of 600 million euros maturing in February 2033, an operation that strengthens the group's financial structure without altering its operational scope. In terms of sentiment, six funds accumulate a declared net short position of 9.01% of the capital, according to reviewed declarations. The level remains high in absolute terms, but it has significantly relaxed over thirty days, with a decline of 5.4 points from the mid-May peak (14.41%).
This decrease reflects a gradual covering movement of bearish bets, without however erasing the still-present selling pressure. In terms of valuation, the consensus of surveyed analysts stands at about 7.8 times the expected earnings for the current fiscal year and 5.8 times those of the following year. The next technical threshold to watch remains the support at €12.24, now close to the current price, whose holding will condition the interpretation of the upcoming sessions.
