Vallourec Secures Contract for 19,000 Tonnes of Tubes for Petrobras in Brazil
Vallourec has won a contract from Allseas for the supply of seamless line pipes coated with thermal insulation for the offshore Atapu 2 project, developed by the Unitized ATAPU consortium led by Petrobras in Brazil. The contract involves approximately 19,000 tonnes of tubes for 143 km of rigid risers and flowlines.
A Project Off the Coast of Brazil at Depths Over 2,000 Meters
The Atapu 2 project, under the Unitized ATAPU consortium operated by Petrobras, aims to develop a section of the Atapu offshore field located in the Santos Basin, about 230 km off the coast of Rio de Janeiro. The production setup will consist of 18 wells directly connected to a floating production, storage, and offloading (FPSO) unit via rigid risers, at depths ranging from 2,000 to 2,350 meters.
The line pipes supplied by Vallourec form the supporting structure of this offshore architecture. The supply includes 143 km of risers and flowlines, which is about 19,000 tonnes of carbon steel tubes.
Production in Jeceaba, Thermal Coating Applied Locally
The seamless line pipes will be produced at the Vallourec plant in Jeceaba, Brazil. The application of the thermal insulation coating will be carried out at the Serra site, leveraging the expertise and facilities recently acquired by Vallourec, including through the purchase of Thermotite do Brasil.
This local integration of manufacturing and coating allows Vallourec to offer a unified supply chain from Brazil, strengthening its premium solutions offering for extreme marine environments.
