VINCI Airports Welcomes 334 Million Passengers in 2025
The private airport operator of the VINCI group recorded a 5% increase in passenger traffic throughout 2025, according to the statement released on Monday. The fourth quarter showed a growth of 3.2% compared to the same period in 2024.
Strong Performance Across European Platforms
According to the document, several European platforms in the network displayed high performance in the fourth quarter. Budapest Airport recorded double-digit growth, driven by the activity of airlines such as easyJet, Ryanair, and Wizz Air, particularly on Mediterranean routes to Spain, Italy, Turkey, and Israel. Edinburgh Airport also saw progress, supported by flights to Mediterranean destinations and the British domestic market. Traffic in Belgrade continued to rise, driven by the expansion of Wizz Air routes to Western Europe. In Portugal, Porto benefited from the growth of low-cost carriers and the strengthening of transatlantic offerings, while Lisbon saw a notable increase in long-haul flights to Asia and Latin America. London Gatwick Airport experienced growth in the long-haul segment, while domestic traffic slowed due to the reorganization of offerings by low-cost carriers, the statement specifies. In France, Lyon Airport showed an increase in international traffic with diverse destinations, including Germany via Lufthansa, Eastern Europe with Wizz Air, and the Mediterranean basin with Transavia and easyJet.
Accelerated Traffic in Latin America and Africa
The group indicated that in Latin America and Africa, some airports experienced an acceleration of their traffic in the fourth quarter. In Brazil, Salvador de Bahia set attendance records thanks to the expansion of GOL and long-haul traffic supported by TAP and Air Europa. The seasonal strengthening of the connection between Salvador and Paris Charles de Gaulle operated by Air France also contributed to the increase in capacities during this period. In Mexico, Monterrey Airport consolidated its momentum with a growth of nearly 10%, driven mainly by Volaris and Viva Aerobus. In Costa Rica, connections to the United States continued to support traffic. The airports in Cape Verde continued their growth, particularly through operations by easyJet and Transavia, with new routes to France and the United Kingdom enriching the offering, in addition to growth stimulated by routes to Portugal, according to the document.
Traffic Rise in Japan Amid Geopolitical Tensions
In Japan, traffic results were up in the fourth quarter, despite geopolitical tensions with China which led to some flight cancellations in December, the company reports. These events moderated the strong recovery of international traffic observed until then. VINCI Airports manages more than 70 airports in 14 countries and positions itself as the world's leading private airport operator. The group recorded 16 million additional passengers in one year, confirming a global trend of air traffic growth, according to the statement.
