Vivendi SE stock rebounds 2.5% with RSI at 20, sign of extreme oversold conditions
Friday's rebound stands in stark contrast to the dark weeks that preceded it, as the media and communications group remains under persistent selling pressure for several months. Deutsche Bank also revised its target downward on Wednesday, a sign that the market continues to question the fundamental outlook for the stock.
A technical rebound in a context of extreme oversold conditions confirmed by RSI at 20
Vivendi SE gains 2.61% during the session, at €1.494, after closing at €1.456 the previous day. This rebound occurs from oversold levels rarely reached: the RSI stands at 20, an extreme configuration that signals marked selling exhaustion. The stock remains, however, solidly anchored below its three moving averages, the 20-day MA at €1.60 representing a first obstacle at 6.63% above the current price, the 50-day MA at €1.78 a gap of more than 16%.
The underlying trajectory therefore remains strongly bearish: the stock has lost more than 29% over three months and more than 51% over one year. The support level at €1.46 — already touched in recent days — is for now preserved, but resistance at €1.98 appears distant under these conditions.
Deutsche Bank lowers its target to €1.80 and maintains a "hold" rating on the stock
On Wednesday, September 9, Deutsche Bank revised its price target on Vivendi SE, reducing it from €2.50 to €1.80, while maintaining a "hold" rating. This new target implies upside potential of approximately 20% compared to the current price, but is part of a sequence of downward revisions that had already accompanied the stock's fall following half-yearly results published in early September. These results revealed EBITDA reduced to €4m in the first half, due to a collective conventional severance at headquarters, while the value of the investment portfolio fell to €5,117m at end-June compared to €5,878m at end-2025. In this context of a generally positive European market (the CAC 40 gains 0.95% during the session, the SBF 120 advances 0.92%), Vivendi SE's rebound places the stock among the strongest gainers of the SBF 120, without, however, changing the medium-term dynamic: the next significant resistance remains set at €1.98.
