Worldline Shares the Weakest in the SBF 120, Falling Below €10 During Session
The payment specialist continues its downward trend at the start of the session in Paris, ending up at the bottom of the broader index. The stock remains stuck below its three moving averages, despite a generally rising Parisian market. Seller positions remain significant on the stock.
Worldline at the Bottom of the SBF 120, Far from Its Three Moving Averages
Worldline shares fell 2% to €10.02, making it the weakest in the SBF 120 while the broader index gained 0.15% during the session. The weekly decline reached 7.46% and the annual loss peaked at nearly 74%, a fundamental downturn that the rebound of more than 4% recorded on Friday failed to halt. The stock is trading well below its three moving averages: the MM20 is at €11.82 and the MM50 at €11.62, approximately 15% above the current price.
The MM200, at €16.54, remains out of reach in the short term (nearly 39% above). The RSI at 39 indicates a deteriorated momentum without entering the oversold zone, while the support at €10.26, tested several times since the end of June, has just been breached. The next downturn threshold is now shaping up on recent lows that have dropped below €10.
Short Sellers Present and Valuation Reduced to Less than Three Times Earnings
According to reviewed declarations, seven funds accumulate a net short position of 5.63% of the capital, with the latest declaration dated July 9. Such an aggregated level reflects a structural bearish bet by several institutional investors, without being able to deduce a specific intent. This positioning should be viewed in light of the stock's plunge over the past twelve months, which has already largely rewarded short sellers.
The valuation reflects this mistrust: according to the consensus of surveyed analysts, the stock is trading at about 2.9 times the earnings expected for the current fiscal year and 2.6 times those of the next fiscal year, based on an 11.4% year-over-year growth in earnings per share. The breach of the €10.26 support remains the technical benchmark to watch in the upcoming sessions, in the absence of any immediate financial events.
