Abeo acquires 60% of Hurricane Group to strengthen its position in urban sports
The sports equipment manufacturer takes control of a French company present in Europe and China, whose accounts it will consolidate as of August 1, 2026. The transaction, financed through a mixed structure including a new share issuance, leaves the target's management team in operational control.
ABEO announced on August 4, 2026 the acquisition of 60% of the capital of Hurricane Group, a company positioned in urban sports in Europe and China. Founded in 1997, Hurricane Group operates at the intersection of sport, events, sports infrastructure and urban culture.
In 2025, the company achieved revenue of €13 million and has 75 employees. Its business model is structured around two main pillars, combining sports competition and development of a brand linked to sport, fashion and urban culture.
The company works with local authorities, sports federations, international organizations and brands. It relies on long-term partnerships with international bodies, with a view to the Los Angeles 2028 and Brisbane 2032 Olympic Games.
Hurricane Group will be consolidated in ABEO's accounts as of August 1, 2026. Hurricane's management team remains committed to the capital and retains operational control to lead this phase alongside ABEO.
Mixed structure financing including a new share issuance
The acquisition of 60% of the capital will be financed according to a mixed structure, comprising a new share issuance. This issuance will be implemented by ABEO's Board of Directors, acting on the delegation of authority from the 2026 General Assembly.
It will be within the limit of the legal and statutory ceiling of 10% of the share capital. According to the group, the transaction is also based on an already established relationship between the two companies, which have collaborated on several occasions, notably with the Bricks brand in parkour and, more recently, with Vogo.
ABEO indicates that the merger should enable Hurricane to leverage its international presence, industrial capabilities and commercial network. In return, ABEO will expand its offering in urban sports by combining infrastructure, equipment, international events and digital solutions, notably through synergies with Vogo.
Olivier Estèves, Chief Executive Officer of ABEO, presents this acquisition as an opening into the urban sports market, citing Hurricane's expertise, its connection with younger generations and its international reputation.
Hervé André-Benoit, founder and Chief Executive Officer of Hurricane Group, indicates that the merger should provide the means to accelerate international expansion and structure activities, while preserving the company's identity and agility.
This merger comes following the publication, on July 16, 2026, of first quarter 2026/27 revenue of €61.7 million, up 1.6% but down 6.4% on an organic basis.
