Accsys: its Accoya wood achieves Cradle to Cradle version 5.0 certification

A more demanding standard on energy, climate and water

The Cradle to Cradle Certified Product Standard, in its Full Scope version, evaluates materials and products according to five categories: material health, product circularity, air and climate protection, water and soil management, and social equity.

Version 5.0 of the standard, published in February 2026, introduces stricter requirements on the use of renewable energy, circularity pathways and greenhouse gas reduction. It also strengthens requirements on human rights management and water conservation.

Certified products are recognized by several sustainable construction standards, including LEED and BREEAM. Accsys presents the certification as a means for architects, specifiers and clients to translate sustainability objectives into material choices.

100% renewable electricity and 25% emissions offset

Obtaining the certification required a detailed evaluation of raw materials, environmental performance and manufacturing processes across all of the group's production sites, in Europe and the United States.

To meet the requirements of version 5.0, Accoya is now manufactured using 100% renewable electricity, including market instruments. Accsys has also committed to offsetting 25% of its entire "Cradle to Gate" emissions (from cradle to factory exit), including transport, in parallel with its efforts on production energy efficiency.

For Gillian Edwards, ESG Manager at Accsys, this certification provides customers with "independent assurance" that products meet demanding standards in terms of material health, circularity, responsible production and environmental and social performance.
