Airbus installs A220 simulator in Singapore, operational by end of 2027
Airbus announced on September 1, 2026, on the sidelines of the Asia Pacific Aviation Training Summit in Bangkok, the installation of a full flight simulator dedicated to the A220 on the Singapore campus of its training joint venture with Singapore Airlines.
This initiative is part of the group's strategy to bring its training capabilities closer to operators in the region.
A220 simulator operational in the fourth quarter of 2027
Airbus Asia Training Centre (AATC), a joint venture between Airbus and Singapore Airlines, will host a full flight simulator (FFS) dedicated to the A220 for the Asia-Pacific region on its Singapore campus. Its entry into service is scheduled for the fourth quarter of 2027.
The equipment is designed to meet the training demand for pilots and maintenance personnel for this single-aisle aircraft. According to Silvia Meloni, Chief Executive Officer of AATC, the implementation of these capabilities is "a strategic lever for Airbus growth in Asia-Pacific".
Deployment entrusted to Flight Training Alliance
The deployment of training services will be conducted in partnership with Flight Training Alliance (FTA), an authorized training provider for Airbus on the A220 (a joint venture between CAE and Lufthansa Aviation Training). FTA will install the simulator, while AATC will manage operations and provide training services.
Located at Seletar Aerospace Park, AATC has 10 full flight simulator bays and can serve up to 10,000 pilots in training per year. At the end of July 2026, Airbus had delivered 532 A220 aircraft to more than 25 operators worldwide, with the program's order book exceeding 1,100 aircraft.
