Aperam: Acquisition of Magnetec and Strong Performance in the First Quarter of 2026
Aperam announces its strategic orientations and a series of developments that strengthen its position in stainless steels and specialized alloys. The group highlights a solid performance in the first quarter of 2026 and confirms its ambitions for global transformation.
Portfolio Diversification and Expansion into Specialized Alloys
Aperam is pursuing a strategy of diversifying its business portfolio. The group has announced the strengthening of its position in specialized alloys through the acquisition of Magnetec. This move is a continuation of the integration of Universal Stainless & Alloy Products, Inc., completed in 2025. The company is also expanding its product offerings. Aperam 309, a refractory austenitic steel, is now available in Brazil for applications up to 1,000 °C, targeting the automotive and industrial sectors. At the group level, ELG Utica Alloys has adopted the Aperam Recycling brand, marking a step in its integration within the group.
Focus on Sustainability and Circular Materials
Aperam positions stainless steel as a key material supporting the European transition towards reusable packaging. The group emphasizes the sustainability, safety, and circularity properties of its products, in line with European goals for waste reduction and reuse. This orientation is part of a context of external recognition: Aperam is listed in the 2026 Clean200 ranking by Corporate Knights, placed in the top 2% of over 8,000 globally evaluated companies for its leadership in sustainable production of stainless steels and alloys.
