Arkema appoints François Desné to lead High Performance Polymers and Fluorinated Gases
The specialty chemicals group is renewing the leadership of its High Performance Polymers and Fluorinated Gases business, with the appointment effective October 12, 2026. This appointment follows Laurent Tellier's promotion to Chief Operating Officer in July 2026.

François Desné is joining Arkema as Chief Operating Officer of High Performance Polymers and Fluorinated Gases and member of the Group's Executive Committee on October 12, 2026. He succeeds Laurent Tellier, who was appointed Chief Operating Officer of Arkema in July 2026.
Nearly 30 years of experience in materials and chemistry
François Desné brings nearly 30 years of international experience in the industry, with a career built within materials and chemistry companies. Since 2022, he has been Chief Executive Officer of the Steel Wire Solutions (SWS) and Bekaert Bridon Ropes Group (BBRG) divisions, and member of Bekaert's Executive Committee. He began his career at Rhodia, in China and then in France, before joining BASF's Coatings and Performance Chemicals divisions, where he held positions in controlling, general management and as senior vice-president. Before joining Bekaert, he was Chief Executive Officer of the Engineered Foams business and member of Recticel's Executive Committee. He holds a Magister's degree in Physics from the University of Paris-Cité, an MBA from the Wharton School and a Master's degree in International Business from the Lauder Institute (University of Pennsylvania).
