Aurora Towers Acquires 255 Canadian Towers from American Tower and Exceeds 650 Sites

Agreement Signed on 255 Sites, Closing Expected in Fourth Quarter 2026

CVC DIF, the infrastructure branch of private assets manager CVC, announced on August 27, 2026 that its portfolio company Aurora Towers has signed a definitive agreement to acquire the Canadian telecommunications tower business of American Tower Corporation.

The portfolio in question comprises 255 wireless communication sites distributed across Canada. The investment will be made through the DIF Infrastructure VIII fund.

Completion of the transaction is expected in the fourth quarter of 2026, subject to regulatory approvals. Following the transaction, Aurora's portfolio will expand from more than 400 to more than 650 sites distributed throughout the country.

According to CVC DIF, this portfolio is complementary to Aurora's existing footprint, with minimal overlap between the two sets. The transaction aims to strengthen Aurora's position as one of the leading independent wireless tower operators in Canada.

Aurora Towers was established as an independent tower platform in Canada following CVC DIF's acquisition of SBA Communications' Canadian wireless tower business in late 2025.

Since this initial investment, Aurora has developed its autonomous organization, strengthened its commercial capabilities with a dedicated management team and deepened its relationships with Canadian wireless operators.

According to CVC DIF, the combination of the two portfolios increases the scale and reach of the platform and expands its relationships with major Canadian wireless operators on a broader site basis. The transaction is part of the group's strategy to build digital infrastructure platforms in North America.

Executives Describe a Growth Milestone for the Platform

Tom Goossens, partner and co-head of DIF Infrastructure funds at CVC DIF, described this acquisition as a natural step in Aurora Towers' development, highlighting the portfolio's complementarity and the strengthening of relationships with Canadian operators.

Kanan Joshi, partner, co-head of North America and head of digital infrastructure at CVC DIF, discussed the momentum Aurora has gained since becoming an independent platform.

Lawrence Gleason, Chief Executive Officer of Aurora Towers, presented this transaction as an important milestone in the platform's growth, poised to expand its presence across Canada.
