In a quasi-stable CAC 40 at close, AXA posts one of the sharpest gains of Thursday, September 3, 2026. The rebound comes as Keefe Bruyette & Woods significantly raises its price target on the stock, in a context of elevated sovereign yields that weighs on global bond markets overall.
Price target raised to €55.50 by Keefe Bruyette & Woods, driver of the rebound
Keefe Bruyette & Woods raised its price target on AXA this Thursday from €47.00 to €55.50, while initiating an "outperform" opinion on the security. This new target represents an upside potential of nearly 25% compared to the closing price of €44.21. BNP Paribas Wealth Management had for its part raised on September 1st its target from €53.00 to €56.00, confirming its buy recommendation on the stock.
These two upward revisions set the bar well above the current price, reflecting analysts' confidence in the group's trajectory. When AXA released its H1 2026 results on July 31st, management indicated it was on track to achieve the objectives of its "Unlock the Future" plan. The rise in sovereign yields, with the 10-year US Treasury yield approaching 4.8% and the British gilt reaching 5.268% (a level unseen since 2008), constitutes a historically favorable context for insurers, whose investment income is sensitive to bond yield levels.

At €44.21, the stock is trading practically at the level of its two short and medium-term moving averages: the 20-day MA is at €44.14 (difference of +0.16%) and the 50-day MA at €44.29 (difference of -0.18%), two levels that the price is hugging closely. The €43.53 support was broken during the August 27 session, before the stock regained ground. The 200-day MA at €40.91 remains well below, with a difference of more than 8%, a sign that the underlying momentum remains bullish over the year. The RSI at 43 reflects a neutral configuration, with no oversold or overbought signals.
The CAC 40 closed in near-equilibrium (+0.07%), in a context of persistent geopolitical tensions in the Gulf following the resumption of strikes exchanges between Iran and the United States, which pushed Brent above 95 dollars per barrel. The resistance at €45.57 constitutes the next level to overcome to confirm the recovery.
