Biophytis Advances in Asia with a Joint Venture in Hong Kong for BIO101
Biophytis announced on Tuesday the submission of the registration file for its joint venture in Hong Kong with its Asian partners, including Ronghui Renhe Life Technology. This entity, named Biophytis Biopharmaceutical Holding LTD, aims to accelerate the development and commercialization of BIO101 for sarcopenia in Asian markets.
A Joint Venture to Accelerate Development in Asia
The joint venture, Biophytis Biopharmaceutical Holding LTD, brings together Biophytis and its Asian partners, including Ronghui Renhe, a Chinese conglomerate specializing in the manufacturing and distribution of health products. The focus is on the development and commercialization of BIO101, a molecule under study for treating sarcopenia, in Asian markets, particularly in China, Japan, and South Korea.
Stanislas Veillet, CEO of Biophytis, stated that this step represents "a key priority in the execution of our Asian strategy" and reflects "our commitment to establishing a lasting presence in this high-potential region".
Strategic Contributions and Financial Commitments
Biophytis will contribute its patents and a development and commercialization license for BIO101 in China, Japan, and South Korea to the joint venture. The Asian partners will provide the first installment of a total committed funding of $20 million, which includes an initial payment of $3 million.
This funding will support the clinical and regulatory development of BIO101 for sarcopenia until market authorization is obtained in Asia. The official registration is expected to occur in the coming days. The respective contributions of the partners will be made in the following weeks, allowing the completion of the operation.
Three Strategic Priorities for Operational Launch
Following the finalization, the joint venture will launch its operations focusing on three strategic priorities: preparing the Phase 3 clinical trial of BIO101 for sarcopenia in Asia, submitting the necessary regulatory applications to initiate this trial in the region, and recruiting dedicated local teams.
