Biotalys stock surges 10% following Evoca approval in California
The Belgian biocontrol group's share price climbs this Wednesday, driven by a major regulatory decision obtained on the American market. The approval of its flagship biofungicide by California authorities has reignited momentum for a stock that has remained under pressure for several months, in a context of continued tight financing.
Evoca's California approval propels the stock above its 20-day moving average
The Biotalys share gained 10.04% to €2.69 during the session, driven by the registration of its Evoca biofungicide with the California pesticide authority, announced today. This validation paves the way for commercialization in California, the United States' leading agricultural market, and aligns with the group's strategy centered on Evoca NG, presented as its first next-generation commercial product. The rebound pushed the stock back above its 20-day moving average (€2.59), with a gap of 3.67% above this benchmark.
The next resistance level is identified at €2.98, approximately 11% above the current price, while the 50-day moving average at €2.80 represents an intermediate obstacle, with the stock remaining below it (gap of -4.11%). The RSI at 35 reflects a configuration still close to oversold conditions, signaling that the selling pressure of recent weeks has not yet fully subsided despite today's rebound.
A financially strained situation that qualifies the scope of the rebound
Today's surge occurs on a stock that still shows a decline of 40.73% over twelve months and 11.53% over three months, reflecting persistent pressure linked to the group's financing uncertainties. When publishing first-half 2026 results on August 20, 2026, Biotalys confirmed that its current liquidity does not cover its working capital needs beyond the first quarter of 2027. Normalized net loss had declined thanks to a refocusing plan, but cash of €11.9 million at end-June remained the central issue. When publishing 2025 full-year results (April 29, 2026), the group had also signaled it only had financing visibility until end-May 2026 at that time, a horizon since extended to Q1 2027 thanks to the refocusing and a capital raise completed in early May 2026.
These fundamental elements make the strategic partnership with AgroFresh for the post-harvest market, mentioned in the same annual publication, a potential commercial lever to reduce dependence on new financing. Today's advance partially mitigates the quarterly decline, without erasing it. The support level at €2.40 remains the low reference to monitor should momentum reverse.
