Bouygues stock abandons the €42 threshold, under pressure
The French conglomerate's share is losing its intraday support and is ranking among the worst performers in the CAC 40, in an index itself retreating. Pressure is intensifying over several weeks, in a context of difficult economic conditions for the construction sector.
Support at €42.61 broken through, three moving averages in resistance above price
Early in the afternoon, Bouygues loses 1.81% to €41.84, after breaking through its support level at €42.61 during the session. The stock remains below this level, which constitutes a notable technical breakdown. Three moving averages weigh down above: the 20-day MA at €43.85 (difference of -4.58%), the 50-day MA at €45.87 (-8.79%) and the 200-day MA at €48.10 (-13.01%) form a tiered ceiling that the price has failed to regain for several weeks.
The RSI at 33 approaches the oversold zone without reaching it clearly, reflecting progressive exhaustion without a reversal signal. Vinci and Eiffage, comparable sector values, are declining by 1.57% and 1.90% respectively, indicating common pressure on French construction companies in this session. The CAC 40 is down 0.58% during the session.
A quarterly decline of nearly 14% in a construction sector under strain
Over three months, Bouygues is down 13.87%, erasing a large portion of the annual gain which remains positive at +9.19%. The medium-term momentum weighs on a value exposed to a clearly degraded construction cycle: in September 2026, the construction climate in France stands at -17.2 according to Eurostat-ECFIN data, residential building permits are declining by 9.5% over twelve months and contracts concluded in public works are plunging by 27.6% over three months. When publishing first half 2026 results on July 31, the group confirmed its intention to stabilize revenue at constant exchange rates and maintain its operating result at a historically high level. The next resistance level is located at €46.70, representing a difference of more than 11% above the current price.
