Bureau Veritas: Revenue Up 10.1% in Third Quarter, Annual Targets Confirmed
Bureau Veritas' third quarter 2026 revenue, published on October 21, 2026, is the first presented under its new four-division organizational structure. It shows growth driven by three simultaneous factors: organic growth, acquisitions, and a favorable currency effect after two negative quarters. The group confirmed all of its annual targets.
The quarterly and cumulative readings tell different stories. Over nine months, total revenue increased by 4.9% with organic growth of 5.7%, with currency headwinds of 1.2%. In the third quarter alone, published growth reached 10.1% compared to 6.2% organically: 3.9 percentage points came from scope and currencies.
Quarterly Revenue of €1,569.7 Million, Up 10.1%
Bureau Veritas achieved revenue of €1,569.7 million in the third quarter of 2026, compared to €1,425.2 million a year earlier. Organic growth stood at 6.2%, following 5.9% in the second quarter and 4.8% in the first, representing sequential progression over the full year.
Scope effect came in at 1.8%. It combines a 2.7% contribution from targeted acquisitions made in recent quarters and a negative 0.9% impact from disposals. Currency effect reached 2.1%, mainly linked to dollar appreciation against the euro. Over nine months, revenue totaled €4,513.8 million.
By division, Buildings & Infrastructure (€562.3 million) posted the strongest organic growth at 7.9%, and published growth of 13.7% thanks to a scope effect of 4.2%. Product Testing & Services (€279.0 million) grew 7.0% organically, Industrials & Commodities (€591.0 million) 5.1%, and Business Assurance (€137.4 million) 3.2%.
Americas and Asia-Pacific Leading, Europe Growing 2.6%
Geographically, the Americas (approximately 27% of revenue) posted organic growth of 8.7%, supported by North America, particularly in so-called critical infrastructure. Asia-Pacific (approximately 30%) grew 8.6%, driven by China and South Asia. Europe (approximately 34%) grew 2.6% and Africa and Middle East (approximately 9%) 5.6%.
Two divisions posted quarterly growth rates above their nine-month average. Industrials & Commodities moved to 5.1% organic growth in the third quarter, compared to 3.9% over nine months; Business Assurance to 3.2%, versus 2.3%. Within the former, the order book for Marine & Offshore activity reached 36.3 million gross tons on September 30, 2026, up 13.4% year-on-year, a level the group describes as a record.
Details also reveal headwinds identified by the group. In energy, high commodity prices are leading operators to defer maintenance operations. In building, growth in investment is broad-based except in the Middle East, affected by the ongoing conflict, while critical infrastructure-related activity is growing over 40% organically.
2026 Targets Confirmed, Double-Digit Total Growth Targeted for 2027-2028
For fiscal year 2026, Bureau Veritas confirmed its target of mid-to-high single-digit organic growth, an improvement in adjusted operating margin at constant exchange rates, and strong cash generation. At its investor day on September 22, 2026, the group raised its total growth target at constant exchange rates to a mid-to-double-digit annual pace for 2027-2028, and tightened its leverage range to 1.5 to 2.0 times EBITDA.
On the balance sheet side, net financial debt on September 30, 2026 remained broadly stable compared to June 30. The group had over €1.0 billion in cash and equivalents and €600 million in undrawn confirmed credit lines. In September, it placed a €700 million bond rated A3, maturing in 2034 and carrying a coupon of 4.125%, intended to refinance maturities in September 2026 and January 2027.
As of October 19, 2026, Bureau Veritas had repurchased 2.5 million shares for €68 million, as part of the €200 million program announced on February 25, 2026. The group also set a target of €1 billion in revenue related to artificial intelligence markets and services by 2030.
