CAC 40 leaders: Bureau Veritas stock rises nearly 3%, Citi turns buyer
Bureau Veritas ranks among the strongest gainers of the CAC 40 mid-morning session, in a well-oriented Paris index. The inspection and certification group rebounds after several weeks of decline, as an American investment bank has just revised its opinion in its favor.
Citi turns buyer and slightly raises its price target
The Bureau Veritas stock gains 2.87% to €26.91, compared to €26.16 at yesterday's close. The move follows Citi's change of opinion, dated today: the bank leaves its neutral position to turn buyer, with a price target raised from €31.44 to €31.54. This target is approximately 17% above the current price.
The rebound should be put into perspective: the stock is still down 2.64% over one month and shows a decline of 0.19% over three months, so today's session barely offsets the recent decline. Over the week, the gain is 1.17%.
A stock touching its 20-day moving average and below its other averages
From a technical indicators standpoint, the price is at €26.91 and is touching its 20-day moving average (€27.01, difference of 0.37%). It remains below the 50-day MA (€27.44) and the 200-day MA (€27.10), meaning that today's rise has not yet allowed it to reclaim these two levels. The RSI at 36 remains close to an oversold zone, a sign of a market that was exiting a declining phase.
Among declared net short positions, two funds accumulate 1.01% of capital. This stake, up about one percentage point over thirty days, remains modest and does not reflect a massive loss of confidence at this stage. The next technical level to watch is resistance at €27.93, while support is at €26.03.
