Carrefour stock gains 2% and reaches the podium of the CAC 40
In a Paris market oriented downwards on Tuesday, Carrefour is an exception and closes the session in sharp rise. The distributor signs one of the rare positive performances of the index, while the CAC 40 loses 0.39% at closing.
Carrefour resists index pressure and returns to contact with its resistance at 16.65 €
The Carrefour stock closes at 16.00 €, up 2.07% compared to the previous session (15.68 €), placing the security among the strongest gains of the CAC 40, in third position of the index. This rebound occurs while the market context is globally unfavorable: the DAX loses 1.02% at closing, the FTSE 100 loses 0.36% and the S&P 500 retreats 0.48% during the session. Carrefour clearly counters this trend and thus erases the weekly decline (-0.37% over seven days), returning to levels close to the resistance identified at 16.65 €. At this level, the VIX rises 4.62% to 15.61 points, moving from 14.92 points, signaling a slight increase in risk aversion during the session, which makes Carrefour's outperformance more striking.
Favorable technical configuration, with a neutral RSI and a price in contact with the 50-day MA
On the side of trend indicators, Carrefour is in a pivotal position. The price at 16.00 € is in direct contact with the 50-day moving average (MA50 at 16.08 €, difference of -0.50%), a level that the security had not managed to exceed sustainably for several weeks. It remains moreover above the MA20 (15.79 €, difference of +1.33%) and the MA200 (15.47 €, difference of +3.43%), which draws a bullish structure of medium term.
The RSI at 45 remains in neutral territory, without overbought signal, while the MACD displays a positive histogram at 0.012, first relief after several sessions in negative territory. Over one year, the security shows a gain of 31.11%, and the analyst consensus values the security at approximately 9.3 times expected earnings for the current fiscal year. Breaking through the MA50 would constitute the next technical step to follow, before the resistance at 16.65 €.
