Crédit Agricole share falls nearly 3% and tests its 50-day moving average
The green bank is among the most penalized values in the CAC 40 on Thursday, in a session that is globally down for the Paris index. The share is now at the level of its 50-day moving average, in a context of slight pressure on the French banking sector.
A decline of nearly 3% that brings the share back to a major technical threshold
The Crédit Agricole share is down 2.95% to €18.45 during the session, while the CAC 40 falls 0.96% at the same time. The share is now at the level of its 50-day moving average, set at €18.48, representing an almost negligible gap of 0.16%. This level is drawing attention: a further decline would reopen the path towards the support level at €17.79, situated 3.6% lower.
Conversely, the 200-day moving average, at €17.48, remains significantly below the current price (a gap of more than 5%), reflecting a preserved underlying trend in the long term. The 20-day moving average, at €19.50, now caps 5.4% above the price, illustrating the deterioration of short-term momentum. The RSI at 48 remains in neutral territory, without a marked oversold signal.
A share valued at less than 8 times its earnings, in an environment where rates are normalizing
From a valuation perspective, according to the consensus of analysts surveyed, the share is trading at approximately 8 times the expected earnings for the current fiscal year, and 7.4 times those of the next, with earnings per share growth anticipated at +8.2% from one fiscal year to the next. This contained multiple is consistent with a context of interest rate normalization: the 3-month Euribor stood at 2.425% as of July 1, 2026, up 0.40 points over one year, while the outstanding corporate credit in France increased by 3.8% year-over-year on the same date.
Over the week, the share has lost 3.73%, erasing part of the quarterly rebound of 12.53% recorded over three months. The support level at €17.79 represents the next reference level if selling pressure were to continue.
