CVC Capital Partners Acquires Majority Stake in DistroKid, Insight Partners Remains Minority
CVC Capital Partners has signed a definitive agreement to acquire a majority stake in DistroKid, a leading global music distributor founded in 2013. Insight Partners, a long-time shareholder, will retain a significant minority stake in the post-transaction structure.
Investment in Music Distribution and Tools for Artists
CVC Capital Partners formalized its entry into DistroKid's capital through its CVC Capital Partners IX fund. The transaction, whose financial terms were not disclosed, is expected to be finalized in the third quarter of 2026, subject to customary closing conditions. Phil Bauer will continue as president of the platform, supported by the existing management team. DistroKid has expanded beyond its initial scope as a music distributor to offer a range of tools for independent musicians. The platform provides music and video distribution, instant mastering, direct-to-fan sales experiences, on-demand and personalized merchandise production, and other services. The group continues to invest in new tools designed to facilitate creation, publishing, and connection with audiences for musicians worldwide.
