Drone Volt Qualified for Canadian Defence Drone Program
The French professional drone manufacturer has obtained qualification from the Canadian Air Procurement Directorate as a supplier for a public program intended notably for the Canadian Armed Forces and the Canadian Coast Guard. This step is part of its strategic focus on institutional, security and defence markets.
Three of Five Qualification Segments Obtained
Drone Volt states that it has successfully completed the supplier qualification process in Canada for the Defence Drone Initiative (DDI), launched by the Canadian government to accelerate the development, testing, adaptation and production of unmanned autonomous systems.
The public procurement program is organized around five segments. The group has obtained qualification on three of them: segment 1 (unmanned systems and counter-unmanned systems capabilities), segment 3 (integration, interoperability and engineering services) and segment 5 (innovation and experimentation).
This status enables the company to participate in requests for proposals under these three segments. The Canadian initiative notably pursues an objective of strengthening the country's sovereign capacity and emphasizes cybersecurity and supply chain security.
Local Operations in Candiac Presented as a Strategic Advantage
Drone Volt emphasizes its operational presence in Canada, in Candiac, near Montreal, allowing it to leverage local expertise and knowledge of the North American market. This presence is presented as an asset in relation to the DDI's objectives in terms of sovereignty and industrial capacity development.
The group indicates its intention to leverage its expertise as a professional drone manufacturer and integrator, its capabilities in embedded artificial intelligence and payload integration, as well as its engineering, training, technical support and maintenance capabilities.
Marc Courcelle, Chief Executive Officer of Drone Volt, states that this qualification on three of the five segments "constitutes an important milestone for Drone Volt in Canada" and covers "three complementary areas at the heart of our expertise". The company has scheduled the release of its third quarter 2026 revenue on October 14.
