Ekinops Signs Multi-Year Contract with Bluebird Fiber for 400G in the United States
Ekinops announced on September 30, 2026 the signing of a multi-year contract with Bluebird Fiber, a fiber infrastructure provider in the American Midwest.
The agreement covers the modernization and expansion of the operator's optical network infrastructure, with the deployment of 400G services along the Midwest artificial intelligence corridor.
An Agreement to Expand Bluebird Fiber's Backbone Network Capacity
The equipment manufacturer based in Lannion stated that it has concluded a multi-year contract with Bluebird Fiber, intended to modernize and expand the latter's optical network infrastructure.
Bluebird Fiber is an operator-class fiber infrastructure provider located in the Midwest of the United States, with its headquarters in Kansas City, Missouri. The company operates in twelve states, manages more than 58,000 km (36,000 miles) of fiber, serves more than 450 points of presence and has more than 750,000 buildings connected or connectable to its network.
According to the press release, Bluebird Fiber will rely on Ekinops' high-capacity optical network solutions to increase the capacity of its backbone network and provide high-capacity wavelength connectivity in response to demand from data centers, hyperscalers and the wholesale market.
A Progressive Deployment of Optical Capacity
The agreement provides for the progressive expansion of Bluebird Fiber's optical capacity, enabling the deployment of 400G services for its customers across the Midwest artificial intelligence corridor.
Joe Meyer, Chief Operating Officer of Bluebird Fiber, indicated that Ekinops' approach provides the flexibility needed to scale the network as demand increases. Kevin Antill, Director of North America Development at Ekinops, spoke of the strengthening and expansion of the partnership with Bluebird Fiber.
Several Previous European Agreements
This signature follows several recent announcements from the group. On September 10, 2026, Ekinops concluded a partnership with Swedish publisher PacketFront Software Solutions for network service providers. On September 8, 2026, German operator 1&1 Versatel began deploying the group's connectivity portfolio for its managed services for businesses.
Ekinops, listed on Euronext Paris, designs and manufactures optical network and connectivity solutions used in more than 70 countries. The company notes that its press releases are published after the close of the Euronext Paris market.
